Objectives of School Year 2019-2020 :
1. To enhance students’ language ability
2. To enhance students’ self-directed learning skills and motivation in their learning process
3. To embed positive education in the English curriculum
4. To enhance students’ word power
In addition to our school-based English development and in line with our curriculum focus of enhancing learning and teaching effectiveness, we have joined a variety of programmes. In order to build our students’ confidence in English, we encourage students to join different activities and competitions.
Reading and writing programme:
l PLP-R/W programme for P1 to P3 students which is co-taught by our NETs, Mr Edward and Ms Tamanna, and our local English teachers.
l School-based literacy across curriculum programme for P4 to P6 students which was enhanced by the PEEGS in academic year 2018-2019.
l “Promoting Student Adaptive Learning in KS1 and KS2 in reading (2019-2020)” organised by EDB.
l “SCOLAR English Alliance: e-Writing in Action” organised by SCOLAR and the Centre for Enhancing English Learning and Teaching (CEELT), CUHK.
Students experience different reading activities in lessons and enjoy fun post-reading activities and writing activities to develop students’ reading and writing skills.
Speaking and listening programme:
l Playgroup programme for P1 to P2 students which is conducted by our NET and local English teachers.
l A speaking and listening lesson and an extra oral lesson per week for P4 to P6 students.
Students have more exposure in English speaking environment and have more interaction with our NETs to equip students to speak English with confidence.
Activities and Competitions:
l English activity during recess time
l English Ambassador Programme
l Joyful English Classes and English Elite Classes after school
l Participating in Cambridge English Exam, Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival and Hong Kong School Drama Festival
6A Chung Hoi Yuet - gained the first place of solo verse speaking-non-open-girls-primary 6 in the 71st Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival
